EDI system
EDI, also known as CEDI, is a new desalting process combined with ion membrane technology and ion electromigration technology.
It is mainly used for the preparation of high purity water.
Raw water is initially desalted by RO reverse osmosis, and then treated by CEDI, the desalting rate is up to 99.9%, and the highest pure water with a resistivity of 18.0 MΩ·cm can be produced.
In this process, the advantages of electrodialysis and ion exchange are used to make up for the disadvantages of each other. In other words, the deep desalting of ion exchange kinetic energy is used to overcome the electrodialysis polarization and the desalting is not complete.
In addition, the hydroionization generated by the electrodialysis polarization generates H+ and HO- ions to realize the resin self-regeneration to overcome the defects of the resin regeneration through chemical agents after the failure. So CEDI technology is a perfect desalting process.
